As is often the case with my practice, the materials played a significant part in the development of this new product. As all my fabrics are reclaimed, this often dictates the size or shape of the piece that it can be used for. More recently I came across some much larger fabric sample books, which opened up new scope for making larger items. This set of geometric patterns particularly caught my eye because of the bold colours, and the size was also ideal for oversized clutch bags.
The patterns also inspired the pleating I have added to the buttoned flap of each bag. My particular favourite is illustrated by the salmon and grey clutches, with the pleats making a bow-like effect.
